  • So I’m back from Hainan. Not much to say, it was beautiful and everything, and I got a little more tan.

In more exciting news, I am in the hunt as a Sony fanboy.

First up, is a PS3. I want to play FFXIV when it comes out!

Next, when we went to Hainan, I figured out how much my Sony CyberShot DSC-M1 sucked. Which means a new camera. Not a PNS, no. I want a full DSLR. Which means an Alpha. The cheapest Alpha, goes for about $600.

Maybe when I get a (real) job, I can try and get a Sony OLED. This is a big maybe. Also, this is more of a dream of mine, for when I get my own house.

If my Eeepc dies on me, I’d seriously consider getting a Sony P-series. Let’s hope this doesn’t happen.

I was originally thinking of getting a Zune, but the new X series Walkman players changed my mind. It’s exactly the kind of replacement I was looking for, for my old NW-A3000. Boasts similar battery life (33 hours compared to my 40), and a bigger HDD (32 GB flash vs 20 GB HDD).

Since the Kindle is so popular, I might as well rekindle my earlier love of reading with the Reader. I don’t really think I would need it, though. I’d probably just read stuff on my computer anyway.

I was going to get a mylo, but I might as well wait…doesn’t seem like the most ingenious of devices, mostly because it requires a Wi-Fi connection…which might have been useful, if we had Wi-Max, but we don’t.

The VAIO LV series seems like a good buy. I don’t really have anything to say about it, other than I’d rather get an RT, but they’re not wall-mountable.

Ahh, the Sony CyberShot T1. It was such a good camera when it first came out. The T900 is something I’d consider letting my gf use. I’m not letting her get her tiny hands on my DSLR-A230.

These digital photo frames are growing on me. Ever since I got Google Desktop Sidebar, and actually use the Photos widget…

I actually tried the PFRV1 last year. It was a really weird experience, and the headphones were actually pretty heavy. I wouldn’t recommend them, unless you were going to listen to orchestral music, but then again, why not go to an actual concert? In all seriousness though, the MDRV-500DJ’s look better, but iirc, the MDR-V300′s are actually better in terms of sound quality.

Ahh, the Xperia X1. Since I’ve been wanting an Android phone for a while now, it seems like the newest Xperia will be perfect!

But the best? The one I’m definitely going to get. PSP-Go. October 1st. Mark your calendars!

  • These google ads look horrible.

I’ve got a few links I’d like to share this time. I don’t know how long these will stay up, though.

This is quite interesting, and deals with color, instead of bendy lines.

lol @ captcha and language barriers

This is also something I hate about facebook ads. Can’t we have some filtering going on? Also, how exactly do they co-opt my pictures?

Probably my Gundam of choice. Pink is the color of happiness.

So. Plans for the next few days include a trip to the countryside on Saturday, a friend’s birthday party on Sunday, class on Monday, and then we’re going to Hainan next weekend!

It’s a pretty interesting article about the origin of some video game names. A lot of it is speculation, and some parts are clearly opinion, but it’s a good, albeit long read for anyone interested. Also lifted from /., it’s a little painful because the author isn’t familiar with Japanese, and therefore botches some stuff, but nonetheless, it managed to take up a good chunk of my free time.

Speaking of /., there was an article about the destruction of mathematics by the schooling system. Also an interesting read, I won’t reproduce the link here, but the author makes good points, and is quite prone to metaphor, which I am a big fan of. It’s a big shift in paradigm, but I don’t oppose it. Especially for the majority of Liberal Arts people.

In other news, I’ve gotten more progress, and an update should come soon…at least by the time I’m back in America.

I’m also nearing idol status, which is a pretty interesting place for me. I’m sure my dad’s used to it, seeing as how I don’t know of a single person who doesn’t like him (save my mom, which is a story in itself), which is distinct from people who don’t hate him. I’m sure there’s at least a few people who don’t like me very much.

Japanese class is almost over, people are coming to China, and next week my sister finally gets out of school!

June 19, 2009

  • umm…so I guess now that I’m cross-posting these to my facebook, I should change the way I do comments.

I’ve somehow developed insomnia, and it’s pretty unsettling. I’ve never really had a problem going to sleep if I was tired, and now, I seem to have issues with going to sleep at all. It’s a really bad feeling, and I really have no way of describing how I feel, except to say that I’m always restless, and tired. It feels horrible. Maybe I should try drinking myself to sleep?

This summer is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

  • In any case, I’ll never see her again. I’m glad that part of my life is done with. However, I do have another issue to deal with, and it involves my sister. Expect a more concrete update in 2 months.

Man, so much has happened to me in China.

Also, what the hell happened to Xanga. It’s like, a haven for idiots now.

    EDIT: /em coughs.

June 11, 2009

  • erm well. It’s been over a month since I got back to China. This has been neglected for a long time.

In other news, xanga is still blocked by China.

More current news, I went on a blind date ….three days ago?…yeah, I’m still trying to get rid of the horrible images burned into my retinas

I’m probably going to use this more often.

is what I say all the time, but never happens.

    EDIT:
man, i messed up my front page with google adsense.

  • lol inactivity

I did it for two months, kinda. It’s pretty hard to do it consistently when you’re really busy all the time. Also when you have no motivation. And there are no fun things to talk about on a whim, or when your life is boring to talk about. oh well.

    tomorrow is my birthday!

  • OH MAN TODAY WAS SO COOL

I gave the gift to the OL’s.
I went to say greetings to Aizawa-sensei.
    Played Wii Fit.
Went for a walk and emailed everyone for new year’s.
    Went to eat at Cocos.
Talked to Aizawa-sensei for a while, like 40 min. About random stuff, it was wonderful. I’m going to miss his individual sessions D:
    Cleaned out my MP3′s, finally.
Getting ready for dinner and meeting my new roommate!

  • I went to Seria, Cainz, and Beisia in that order. I spent like, ¥27,000 on food and supplies. I’m stocked!
